is the process of collecting samples of body fluids or tissues for further research in order to improve our understanding of human health and diseases.
Biobank is an official structure that receives, processes, and stores samples of biological material and associated data for further use in scientific and clinical research.
Key requirements for operation of biobanks:
  1. Strict adherence to ethical requirements and responsible handling of personal data of patients and donors
  2. Standardization of the procedures for processing, transportation, and storage of biomaterial
  3. Collection and secure storage of information associated with biosamples
The creation of biobanks globally allows modern medical science to work on developing new and most effective methods of treating a wide range of complex diseases.
